Becoming a Member

Temple Etz Rimon welcomes all people – members, visitors, guests — who wish to attend services and many aspects of congregational life.  However, becoming a temple member is an important step for many individuals and is important to the life of our congregation. We value our members and as a URJ-designated small congregation, members are crucial to sustaining the operations of the congregation.

If you believe that you have found your spiritual home with us, we encourage you to officially join our congregation.

Why Join?

There are some concrete benefits available only to members. As a formal member, you receive

  • the ability to enroll children in Union of Reform Judaism online religious school
  • guaranteed, no fee reservations for High Holy Days worship
  • access to our clergy for pastoral counseling and life-cycle events at zero or reduced fees
  • access to support for students wishing to attend summer camp.

That said, we believe that the most important benefits of membership are less concrete and more personal than the list above.  Becoming a member allows you to more deeply connect with others living a Jewish life, however that might be defined; provides opportunities for spiritual growth; and fulfills the mitzvah of sustaining the Jewish community at large.

Are Membership Fees or Dues Required?

Temple Etz Rimon does rely strongly on its members to support the basic operations of the temple, and we do ask for an annual financial pledge.  Instead of referring to this pledge as “dues” we call it an “annual commitment” to underscore the idea that temple membership is a relationship.

We offer multiple membership opportunities, from a suggested sustaining membership amount to amounts based on family size and age; additionally, we  offer options to pay membership commitments over time.  Temple Etz Rimon has always opened its doors to anyone who wishes to be a member of our congregational family, regardless of ability to pay, and prospective members who have financial concerns should please contact the temple president to privately discuss their options.
